Court acquits Jonah Jang of N6bn fraud charges

A Plateau state high court in Jos, the state capital, has discharged and acquitted former governor of the state, Jonah David Jang of N6.3 billion corruption charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Christy Dabup, the judge, in a judgement delivered on earlier today, also discharged Jang’s co-defendant, Yusuf Pam, former cashier in the office of the secretary to the Plateau state government.

Air Commodore Jang (Rtd) was governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015. He had previously served as Military Governor of Benue State and Gongola State. In 2015, Jang ran and won Plateau North senate seat as his term as Governor of Plateau State drew to a close.
