AFCON hosts, Ivory Coast send Senegal packing

The host nation of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast beat Senegal 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra-time in round 16 at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro last night.

The victory against the defending champions saw the Elephants progress to the quarterfinals after finishing in the group stage as one of the best losers of the tournament.

The Ivorians will now face either Mali or Burkina Faso in the last eight on 3 February at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké.
