Yahaya Bello appears in court over ‘N110bn fraud’

Former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, appeared before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja on Wednesday to face allegations of fraud amounting to ₦110 billion.

Bello, declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April 2024, voluntarily surrendered to the commission on Tuesday. He was subsequently detained and prepared for court proceedings scheduled for Wednesday.

The case, tagged FCT/HC/CR/778/24, accuses Bello of criminal breach of trust and other related offences. The allegations involve financial mismanagement amounting to ₦110,446,470,089. He is being prosecuted alongside two co-defendants, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu.
