Vice President Kashim Shettima has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategic policies for placing Nigeria on a new growth trajectory, making the country more attractive for investments across various sectors.
Shettima’s remarks come ahead of the upcoming Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, which will see Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, lead a high-level delegation to Nigeria for the second session of the dialogue after a decade-long hiatus.
Speaking on Tuesday during a preparatory meeting with ministers and agency heads at the Presidential Villa, Shettima praised President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a visionary with the “dexterity and audacity to hope for a better tomorrow.” He emphasized the need for all Nigerian stakeholders to be well-prepared for the dialogue, ensuring clarity, strategic coherence, and a deep understanding of the issues to be discussed.
“I urge all ministers involved in the Nigeria-Brazil strategic dialogue to take charge of the discussions and drive the process forward. Engage with key focus groups and provide regular updates to ensure thorough preparation for the visit of the Brazilian vice president and his delegation,” Shettima stated.
Highlighting the importance of the partnership, he pointed out the shared opportunities between Nigeria and Brazil in sectors such as agriculture, culture and tourism, livestock production, and military technology.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, also underscored the dialogue’s significance for Nigeria’s agricultural sector, describing it as an opportunity to push the country closer to achieving food sovereignty.
“It is time for us to walk the talk. Agriculture will play a crucial role in this partnership, helping Nigeria catch up with global advancements and move toward food security,” Kyari said.
