President Bola Ahmed Tinubu currently met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting held at the Aso Rock villa, took place days before a planned nationwide strike over the economic hardship sweeping through the land.
The removal of subsidy on petrol and the unification of the foreign exchange rate have led to spiralling inflation.
As a result, there have been reports that the protests will commence in the first week of August.
Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo and chair of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF); and AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, governor of Kwara and chair of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF); led the APC governors to the presidential villa.
Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Hyacinth Alia (Benue) were among those seen heading for the meeting.
There have been calls to shelve the protests over a possible hijack by hoodlums.
