Super Eagles’ Umar Sadiq suffers long-term injury

Super Eagles of Nigeria  and Real Sociedad striker, Umar Sadiq, has suffered an injury in his right knee that might see him ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Umar was taken off the field during a La Liga clash against Getafe on Sunday.

A statement on the club’s official website read, “He suffered a torsion in his right knee during the Getafe-RS match, held yesterday, 09-11-2022.

“The MRI done this morning shows a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. It is a subsidiary lesion of surgical treatment. In the next few days, it will be reported.”

He walked off the pitch on his own after landing awkwardly as a result of a dribble by an opponent.

Initial reports suggested it was a minor injury but Monday morning scans show that the striker would need surgery.

Sadiq joined Sociedad in August.
