Osinbajo refuses to step down for Tinubu, walks out of meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo walked out of a meeting held by South West governors and presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC last night,  which was for the sole aim of endorsing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the consensus presidential candidate the party, NEWSWATCHplus learnt.

According to a reliable source, of all the aspirants who attended the meeting, former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his Ogun State counterpart, Osinbajo refused to step down for Tinubu.

The source further stated that Governor Kayode Fayemi as irrepressible as he is, agreed to to support Tinubu on the day of the primaries.

The meeting came on the heels of the declaration of northern governors within the APC that power should shift to the South. 

President Muhammadu Buhari himself bowed to pressure and agreed that the South should produce the presidential candidate of party for fairness and equity.

Several prominent men and women from the South West have reached out to Osinbajo to persuade him to step down for Tinubu. Time will tell if he succumbs to pressure.
