Mohamed Salah has climbed to third place on Liverpool’s all-time goalscorers list, netting his 242nd goal for the club in a 3-1 Premier League victory over Southampton on Saturday.
The Egyptian forward had previously drawn level with Gordon Hodgson—who played for Liverpool between 1926 and 1935—after scoring in the 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad. However, with his latest strike against PSG, Salah has now surpassed Hodgson, leaving only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) ahead of him in the club’s history.
The goal also saw Salah match Sergio Agüero’s tally for fifth place on the all-time Premier League scorers list, making him the joint-highest-scoring non-English player in the league’s history.
Salah’s latest goal came from the penalty spot, restoring Liverpool’s lead at 2-1 after Darwin Núñez equalized following Will Smallbone’s opener for Southampton.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in June 2017, Salah has reached this milestone in just 390 appearances. His goal breakdown includes 181 in the Premier League, 45 in the Champions League, six in the FA Cup, five in the Europa League, four in the Carabao Cup, and one in the Community Shield. In addition to his prolific scoring, Salah has also provided 109 assists during his time at Anfield.
