Nduka Erikpume, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Ward 6 in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State has said that Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is a registered member of the party.
Erikpume said this in a brief interview with the Punch yesterday.
According to Erikpume, the CBN governor had registered as an APC member in February 2022.
The party chieftain said “Yes, he has registered since February 2021. He is our member.”
This is coming on the heels of strong condemnations of Emefiele’s alleged involvement in politics, with senior lawyers and other eminent Nigerians calling for his immediate resignation.
The top lawyers and some prominent politicians stated that Emefiele as the CBN governor was dangerous to the economy due to reports of him allegedly joining partisan politics.
